Fernando Torres has been dropped from the Spain squad for next week's friendly against Venezuela.
The £50m Chelsea striker has not scored since October and was left out of the side beaten by Napoli in the Champions League.
And Spain boss Vicente del Bosque has followed Andre Villas-Boas' lead, replacing Torres with Valencia's Roberto Soldado.
Torres
was last dropped from a Spain squad more than five years ago, but del
Bosque said: "Torres is not in good form and we believed in this case it
was better if he didn't come.
"But this doesn't mean anything. This is not a definitive list for Euro 2012."
Barcelona's
World Cup winner Pedro Rodriguez has also been left out, with del
Bosque preferring Athletic Bilbao youngster Iker Muniain.
